WHO IS THE GLOBAL JEWISH PEN PAL PROGRAM FOR?
All ages are welcome to participate in the program. We have participants that range from 6 years old to 87 years old. All participants will be matched with someone around their own age.
You must identify as Jewish to be a pen pal in the program.
Individuals from anywhere in the world who are Jewish, are welcome to sign up to be matched with a global Jewish pen pal.
ARE THERE WAYS THAT I CAN GET INVOLVED WITHOUT HAVING A PEN PAL?
Yes! If you do not have the time to commit to a pen pal, feel free to like our Facebook page and follow our Instagram account in order to read and interact with our posts about Jewish life around the world. From time to time we share special opportunities--keep an eye out for those!
You can also write about Jewish life in your city/country for our blog or social media. Fill out this form to become a writer.
DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO BE MATCHED WITH A PEN PAL?
No! Being matched with a global Jewish pen pal is a free service that we provide. We want to make connecting with global Jewish life as accessible as possible.
CAN I REQUEST TO BE MATCHED WITH A PEN PAL FROM A SPECIFIC PLACE? OR FROM A SPECIFIC JEWISH BACKGROUND?
We believe that you will get the most out of this program if you are open-minded to creating a connection with whomever you are matched with--wherever they live, however they practice Judaism. A goal of our program is to help you meet new people and learn about ways of practicing Judaism that might be both different and similar to your own ways. We want to give you the chance to meet someone who otherwise you may never have met. Therefore, at this time we do not take requests to be matched with a pen pal from a specific place or from a specific Jewish background.
WHAT LANGUAGE DO I COMMUNICATE WITH MY PEN PAL IN?
The program, and all communication from the program, is conducted in English.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MATCHED WITH A GLOBAL JEWISH PEN PAL?
The matching process takes a different amount of time for each individual, as we strive to make the best matches possible. Some people will be matched within hours of signing up, for others, it may take up to 4 months to be matched. However, feedback from participants has revealed that the wait is definitely worth it!
